How We Research and Write
Every article on Lifespan Method follows the same research and editorial process. We hold ourselves to these standards because health content carries real consequences — especially in fertility, where decisions are time-sensitive and deeply personal.
Research Process
- Primary sources — articles are built on peer-reviewed research from journals including Fertility and Sterility, Human Reproduction, Reproductive BioMedicine Online, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. We access studies through PubMed, PubMed Central, and Google Scholar.
- Hierarchy of evidence — we prioritize meta-analyses and systematic reviews, followed by randomized controlled trials (RCTs), then cohort studies. Single case reports or in-vitro-only findings are identified as preliminary.
- Competitor analysis — before writing, we review the top-ranking pages for a given topic to identify what’s already covered and, more importantly, what’s missing. Our goal is to add genuine value, not repeat existing content.
- Dosing verification — supplement dosages are cross-referenced against published clinical protocols, not manufacturer recommendations. When studies use varying doses, we report the range and context.
Editorial Standards
- Accuracy over persuasion — we never overstate the evidence to make a supplement sound more effective than the research supports
- Uncertainty is stated — when evidence is limited, mixed, or preliminary, we say so explicitly. “Promising but not conclusive” is a valid and important finding.
- Conflicts of interest — this site participates in affiliate programs (see our affiliate disclosure). Product recommendations are never influenced by commission rates. We recommend specific products based on ingredient quality, bioavailable forms, third-party testing, and clinical relevance.
- Updates — articles are reviewed and updated when significant new research is published. We do not add year tags to titles or engage in superficial “freshness” updates.
- Corrections — if we get something wrong, we fix it. Readers can report errors through our contact page.
Product Recommendation Criteria
When we recommend specific supplement products, we evaluate:
- Form and bioavailability — does the product use the clinically studied form? (e.g., ubiquinol vs ubiquinone for CoQ10, bisglycinate vs oxide for minerals)
- Dosing accuracy — does the label dose match what the research supports?
- Third-party testing — is the product tested by independent labs (NSF, USP, ConsumerLab, Informed Sport)?
- Clean formulation — no unnecessary fillers, artificial dyes, or undisclosed proprietary blends
- Value — cost per effective dose, not just per bottle
Author Qualifications
Lifespan Method is written by Joseph Fernandez, a software engineer and health optimization practitioner with over a decade of experience researching and applying evidence-based health protocols. Joseph brings the same systematic, data-driven approach to health research that he applies to engineering — reading primary sources, cross-referencing clinical data, and building practical protocols from what the science actually supports.
Joseph is not a licensed medical professional. He grew up in a healthcare-aware household — his mother was a nurse — and has practiced evidence-based health optimization for himself and his family for over 10 years. His engineering background provides the analytical framework that distinguishes this site’s content from typical supplement marketing.
